- Carole and I traveled to Brockport, NY to pick up our new/used car. We're
planning to switch from pavement to the dirt. We've raced on the asphalt
since 1993. It's going to be a big change but we can handle it. Stay

June 12, 2003 Kevin Kelly and I traveled to Motordrome to attend Team Ciferno Ride-n-Drive media day. I was a guest driver and Kevin was a guest crew chief. We had a blast. The two-seat All-Pro style car was way fast and fun to drive.

September 14, 2002 Crew chiefed the final Hooters race of the regular season for Kuntz Motors at Motordrome. Finished 20th or so after breaking the RR shock mount and overheating the engine.
August 31, 2002 Double duty tonight at CPA. Raced my car and also the #32 Street Stock of Billy Dickson. Finished 4th in both classes. Crew chief Mark Houser hot lapped my late model.
August 10, 2002 Raced the #36 at Clearfield. Finished 2nd in the heat race and 5th in the feature.
August 3, 2002 Crew chiefed for Kuntz at the Jennerstown Hooters race. Finished 16th.
July 27, 2002 Raced the #36 at Clearfield. Finished 2nd in the heat race then got rained out for the feature.
June 22, 2002 Crew chiefed for Kuntz at the IRP Hooters race. Had our best finish so far with a 9th.
June 8, 2002 Double duty at Jennerstown today. Finished 15th as the crew chief for Kuntz in the Hooters race and 15th driving my own car in the Naturally Fresh Challenge race.
June 1, 2002 Worked as the crew chief for Kuntz Motors at Holland International Speedway in Holland, NY. Finished 16th.
May 25, 2002 Spent the morning installing the 4-bbl carburetor for the new rules at CPA. Finished 3rd in the heat race and 4th in the feature.
May 11, 2002 Raced the Womer Racing #36 at Central PA Speedway. Finished 2nd in the heat race and 4th in the feature.
April 13, 2002 Worked as the crew chief for the Kuntz Motors #9 at the Hooters ProCup race at Jennerstown. Finished 21st after breaking the sway bar end link mid-race.
September 16, 2001 Finished fourth in our final feature of the year. This put us fourth in points for the season.
September 9, 2001 We broke a LF rotor and ended up finishing 8th.
September 1, 2001 Finished fifth after a race-long battle with Bob McMillen. I turned under him a few times but couldn't keep enough momentum on corner exit. We'll make some changes and see you next week.
August 25, 2001 We finished sixth. The Womer Racing Monte Carlo developed a push in the center of the corner. We were about one-tenth of a second off the pace of the leader.

August 11, 2001 We started 9th in the 100 LMS event at Clearfield. We were moving through the pack when a driving error caused me to skim the front-straight wall. We finished on the lead lap in 7th spot with no trouble other than a bent race car.
August 4, 2001 Our car was having some handling trouble which resulted in a sixth place finish. We'll have it fixed for the 100-lapper next weekend.
July 21, 2001 We finished 4th in the caution-free feature after starting 7th. The car was working well enough to catch the leaders but we couldn't do anything with them. I got under Miller on a few occasions but ran out of time to make the pass for 3rd. Our division is off next week. We'll see you on August 4th.
July 14, 2001 Finished 2nd in the feature behind the Mopar of Ed Dillon. We passed for 2nd with around five to go but ran out of time to catch the leader.
July 7, 2001 Rain stopped the program before the heat races were finished. We did get ours in and finished a strong 2nd behind Schaefer.
July 3, 2001 A broken hub caused us to drop out on lap 36 of the feature. That put us 11th in the final running order.

June 16, 2001 The car was running well in the heat race until two laps from the end. The trans lost a bearing and began locking up. My crew installed a backup with seconds remaining before the feature. Once again I'd like to thank them for their spectacular job. We went out with high gear only. Early on I tapped the wall with the right rear and bent something which made for a long feature. On a mid-race restart we got caught in a turn two melee. Radiator damage forced us to retire. We finished 10th. See ya next week.
June 9, 2001 We finished 4th in both the heat and the feature. We were fighting a lack of grip in the heat race. My crew guys, Kevin and Mark, did a great job figuring out what the car needed for the feature. After the first lap I could tell the car was much better. We spent most of the race battling McMillen for second. On a late race restart Betton got by so that put us to fourth for the finish. We'll make a few minor changes to fix the mid-corner push and go for it next Saturday

May 26, 2001 We finished 3rd in the heat race behind Schaefer and Miller. Started 4th in the feature. We made it to 2nd in a lap or two then proceeded to chase Gault Jr. We were in 2nd until 5 to go. Miller got by so that put us third for the finish.
May 19, 2001 Tonight's Sportsman racing action was some of the best the Central PA Speedway has ever seen. Fifteen cars took the green flag for single car qualifying action. We put the Womer Racing/Clearnet Monte Carlo fourth on the grid. The 10-lap dash for c(r)ash was interesting. We were passing for 2nd when the driver (me) had some brain fade and slid up the track. That put us last. OOPS. We drew the pole for the 50-lap feature. On lap 1 I got tapped from behind and spun. That put us to the back. We began the long march to the front and made it from 15th to 5th by race end. The car was working well but as we say in the racing business, "we ran out of time". See ya next time.

May 5, 2001 The Womer Racing Monte Carlo was hooked up tonight. We had a small problem in the heat race and ended up near the back. During the feature, I followed the leader, Don Betton, for 20 laps or so. He was running the bottom so I looked high and pulled off the pass. We won our first feature of the season.
April 28-29, 2001 We raced at Jennerstown Saturday night and Clearfield Sunday afternoon. Finished 6th in the heat race at J-town and 14th in both features (one was a rain make-up). We'll do some research and get the car better for next time. As for CPA, we won the heat race and finished 2nd in the feature behind Miller.
April 22, 2001 We raced at Clearfield today. We won the heat and finished 2nd in the feature. I spun in turn two while trying to pass Rick Miller for the lead. That put us to seventh with 10 to go. Made it to 2nd by race end.

June 27, 1998 Had the new engine in for the evening. Got wrecked in the heat race. Got fixed and finished 7th in the feature. Nakamura was a special guest.
June 20, 1998 Spent the first part of the weekend at Pocono working on some SCR magazine articles. Made my way home on Saturday for the best race of my life. My dad drove my car in the street stock race. I watched him finish 5th in the feature. I had grown up looking at pictures of my dad's race car. To see him run a feature was fantastic. His strong run made me very proud.
June 13, 1998 Afternoon rain, no racing.
June 6, 1998 Oil leak in the heat race. Repaired it and finished 5th in the feature. Firebird engine and all. Mitch Nakamura was a special guest.
May 30, 1998 Spent the day with Kyle Petty's team at Dover working for Stock Car Racing Magazine. Awesome. Dad and the guys took the car to Clearfield. Dad was the special guest driver for the evening. He was running well until a late race situation with an unpredictable driver (and that's putting it mildly) caused a spin.
May 23, 1998 Won the heat race, finished 3rd in the feature. Also won BEST APPEARING CAR.

February 13, 1998 Met Dick Berggren at the production trailer at Daytona. He took me in the pits. Got to see the broadcast booth for the big race.
August 30, 1997 Won the heat race. Started on the pole for the feature. Ran 3rd until one lap to go. Ended up getting passed and moved to 4th. Ended the season 2nd in points.
August 23, 1997 Had a wild 3rd in the heat race and a wilder 2nd behind Conklin in the feature.
August 16, 1997 Ran 2nd to John Houser in the heat race. Then the rains hit.
August 9, 1997 Won the heat race. Finished 3 rd in the action packed feature which included me dirt-racing through turn 1.

July 26, 1997 Finished 3 rd in the heat race on old tires. Finished 2nd to Cook in the feature in an exciting finish. Had a slow leak on the right rear.

August 17, 1996 Double duty again tonight. Finished 6th in my car and 8th in Mike Couturiaux's car. That thing has the power but is a bit too loose for my conservative driving style.
August 10, 1996 Wild evening. Under caution Larry Hess broke a rotor and plowed into my car while I was stopped. Finished 10th in the street stock feature. Drove Mike Couturiaux's car in the pure stock race. Finished 5th . Schaefer crashed into the backstretch flag stand. Mel Mease escaped without injury.
August 3, 1996 Won the heat race! Led 10 laps in the feature. Ended up finishing 4th .

July 20, 1996 Two features tonight. Finished 11th in the first feature. 5th in the second feature.

May 25, 1996 Didn't run too well tonight. Clutch was still slipping. Ran a few laps of the feature then pulled in to save my flywheel from permanent damage.
May 18, 1996 Finished 3rd in the heat race. Clutch was slipping in the feature and I got a flat. Finished 10th .
May 4, 1996 Finished 5th in the heat race then rained out for the feature.
April 27, 1996 First Street Stock race in my converted Monte Carlo . Finished 4th in the heat race, 6th in the feature. Car handled well but the engine wasn't as good as I thought a street stock would be.
September 24, 1995 Keystone Open race. Steve Weddles brought the 99W up to race. I drove it in practice. It was awesome. Steve was flying in his feature until the power steering belt came off. I ran out of gas in my feature. Dad drove my car in the mechanics race. He was moving right along until a mishap caused a broken axle/flat tire.

in the first feature and clinched the PURE STOCK POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP! Cruised
to a 5th in the second feature. Final tally of 17 top fives in 19 races.

Finished 4th in the heat race. Had a few incidents in the feature. The final
one was when the steering wheel came off in my hands and I crashed. I got out,
ripped off the fender and tried to continue. The suspension was damaged so I
pulled in.

May 23, 1993 My first engine failure. The car lost oil pressure during hot laps. A stock Buick with a street oil pan and 4.88 gears must not be the way to go...

May 9, 1993 First race ever - at Clearfield Speedway. Drove my Buick Century street-tired pure stock. Started 4th in the heat race, finished 3rd. The car overheated in the feature. I didn't finish but had fun being out there.
